Sacristans at St Mary's
There are four Sacristans working in St Mary's. We put out the chalices, ciborium and cruet with clean linen for the Sunday Eucharist. Every Thursday we wash and polish the silver and get everything in order for Sundays and weekday services. There are special gold chalices and patens which we prepare for major festivals.
Each sacristan works on her own and we use a rota system. We work together when we have a large amount of silver cleaning. The linen is washed every week by the one on the rota and returned on Sunday mornings. Because of holidays and other commitments our present resources are often stretched. If anyone would be prepared to put in three hours a month we should be delighted to hear from you. Please contact the Parish Office.
