THE PARISH CHURCH OF ST MARY THE VIRGIN, HENLEY-ON-THAMES

Remote Church – Mothering Sunday

We can’t gather at St Mary’s for our usual Sunday service, but we can all join a collective act of worship from our homes. You can do this at 9:30am or 11am on Sunday morning, or whenever else is convenient.

This is our service for Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent. Welcome to our Remote Church service!

The Old Testament reading is 1 Samuel 1:20-end. Click the triangular play button below to hear it read by one of our congregation. The text is available online here.

The psalm is Psalm 23. Click the triangular play button below to hear it sung by one of our choristers. The text is available online here.

The New Testament reading is Colossians 3:12-17. Click the triangular play button below to hear it read by one of our congregation. The text is available online here.

The gospel reading is John 19:25b-27. The text is available online here.

Fr Jeremy’s sermon can be heard if you click the triangular play button below. Alternatively, you can read it here.

One of our congregation leads our prayers. This week, we are particularly praying for mothers, and all who care for others, and giving thanks for the nurture they give us, and we can all give each other.

Remote church is an experiment, an attempt to keep our community together while the Covid-19 virus disrupts our normal life. If you have suggestions on how to improve this, or would like to record part of next week’s service, please do let us know by commenting below or emailing info@stmaryshenley.org.uk.

Friends at other churches are doing similar things – if you prefer, try https://www.augustinetooting.co.uk/remote-church or http://www.stmarksholbrook.org.uk/online-service.html or plenty of others!
